- Crazyhorse welcomes up to two separate submission uploads per year. Please wait until you receive a reply regarding a submission before you upload the next.
SPECIAL PRIZE ENTRY MANUSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS: More than one prize-entry manuscript may be uploaded. Each fiction and/or poetry manuscript entered (up to twenty-five pages fiction or up to three poems,10 pages poetry max) must include a reading fee of $16 per manuscript for new entrants, $14 if you have entered before. A one-year/two-issue subscription to Crazyhorse is included with each entry; your subscription will extend by one year per each additional entry. Please upload manuscript(s) and mail your entry fee(s) by Dec. 15, 2008, following the instructions in the confirmation e-mail you will receive after your manuscript upload (instructions are: include your Submission Manager account e-mail address and each entry’s unique manuscript number (e. g. Manuscript # 1234) with your mailed-in entry-fee payment of check or credit card info. Payment options: Mail a check (to “Crazyhorse”) drawn on a US bank, or please mail the following Mastercard, Visa, or Amex information: card type, name as it appears on card, card number, expiration date, signature, ZIP of card billing address, phone number of card billing address. The credit card charge will appear on your credit card statement as “College of Charleston."
- Prepare your manuscript file for upload following these guidelines: Your complete manuscript file should be one file, not multiple files. The file should be an .rtf file (a "rich text format" file, a file type which preserves all text formatting in your manuscript text). Include a cover letter (unless the manuscript is a prize entry, which should include no contact/identity info within the manuscript file) and either up to 25 pages of prose or 3-5 poems. Please upload only an .rtf file and make sure that the file's name ends with the .rtf extension (e.g. "story.rtf" "poems.rtf"). If you are unfamiliar with creating an .rtf file, usually the file type is created within your word processing software's "Save As" or "Export As" function. Your software's instruction guide should provide details.
SPECIAL PRIZE ENTRY MANUSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS: Prize entry manuscript .rtf files should consist of up to twenty-five pages of fiction or up to three poems (10 pages poetry max). Do not include a cover letter or any contact/identity info within your .rtf manuscript file. Prize entry files will be read blindly, unassociated with your submission manager account contact info.
